Community Affairs Coordinator
The Community Affairs Unit serves as a vital link between the District Attorney and the people of New York County. The Coordinator will work cooperatively with community groups in identifying neighborhood crime problems and initiate strategies to solve these problems; attend various community based meetings; and participate in various community information forums and crime victim advocacy projects to discuss the role of the office and available resources. Additional duties include assisting landlords or managing agents, building residents, precinct and narcotics officers in the use of the Trespass Affidavit and Narcotics Eviction Programs and perform related duties. In addition to specific geographic areas Community Affairs Coordinator will work closely with the Special Advisor to the District Attorney for Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual and Transgender Issues on outreach to the LGBT community.
The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, community advocacy or related experience and be highly skilled in written and verbal communications. Must be a strong team player. Knowledge of the office and its resources helpful. Bilingual Spanish or Chinese speaking ability a plus. Ability to attend meetings at night and events on weekends required. Ability to prepare both oral and written summaries is required.
